All iPads include 5GB of free iCloud storage for syncing contacts, media, photos and other data with your computer. Syncing Windows contacts with iCloud requires Microsoft Outlook, part of the Office productivity suite. If you don't have Outlook, you can sync your contacts through iTunes, although using both iTunes and iCloud can create duplicate contacts on your iPad.

Syncing With iCloud

Apple offers an iCloud-syncing utility for Windows called the iCloud Control Panel, and you can download it for free from the Apple site (link in Resources). After installing the software on your computer, open it and sign in with your Apple ID. Select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Tasks” and any other options you want to sync with Windows. On your iPad, tap “Settings,” choose “iCloud” and sign in with the same Apple ID. Enable the “Contacts” option and any others you want to sync with the cloud. Your contacts and other data are backed up in iCloud, so if they're ever lost, you can re-sync them by turning on iCloud from your iPad or computer.

Syncing With iTunes

When you set up iTunes syncing, your contacts and other data are transferred only when your iPad is connected to your computer. You can connect your device via USB or Wi-Fi, but the first time must be over USB. If you don't have iTunes, download it for free from the Apple site (link in Resources). After launching iTunes and connecting your iPad, select “iPad” from the menu bar and click the “Info” tab. Select “Contacts” and click “Sync Contacts From” to choose a source. If you don't have Outlook on your computer, select “Windows Contacts” to sync with the Contacts folder in your user directory. Click “Apply” to transfer the data to your iPad.

I have Windows installed in English but I write most of my emails in Portuguese, when I'm writing most of the words are not English obviously so they get underlined in red, how can I choose the Language I'm writing in? I have not seen it anywhere.

As Moab points to setting the default language is done in the mail options, but changing the language you're writing in when you write in more than one is not obvious to see:

This can be more tricky, basically Windows Live Mail interprets the language you're writing in according to Windows language settings (!!!). So first you need to add more languages to Windows:

1. Go to the Control Panel and select to change keyboard languages:

2. Add the languages you use there, or the ones you'd like to have:

3. Accept the changes, you'll see that there is a language bar near the system tray.

That's what you have to use to make Windows Live Mail correct the language you want. I know WLMail developers made a wrong choice there because the force people to have that bar or at least to have more than one keyboard language set in the system in order to change the spell checker language, but as far as I know this is the only way.
